Future Proofing Resilience in Ag – Our Recap of World Agri-Tech 2023
Cultura Technologies, as a Gold Sponsor of World Agri-Tech San Francisco 2023, was featured on the world stage as a crucial driver in the global agri-food supply chain, from field to market.
The event March 14-15 was an important engagement for us as a record 2,400-plus thought leaders from around the globe gathered in person and on-line to explore the event themed: “Climate-Water-Energy-Food: Future Proofing Resilience in Ag.” Delegates included tech investors, major agri-food company executives, technology and equipment providers, entrepreneurs and start-ups, and government officials.
Greenstone General Manager Duey Yliniemi was a highlight of the first day as he represented Cultura on this mainstage panel: Digital Transformation: Building a Data Highway for Ag Innovation to Take Off. Moderated by McKinsey & Company, Duey and leadership from Amazon, Publicis Sapient and Bushel discussed who is investing in and developing the infrastructure to support the digital transformation of ag. More specifically: Do the existing apps or newcomers lead the infrastructure, who develops the standards, and how do we excellerate adoption?
“Because of our very customer centric approach, we really view this as a virtuous cycle of innovation because 90 percent of what we build is what customers tell us really matters to them,” Duey answered. “We listen to them, we build, launch, and deliver enhancements to existing features to meet those needs. And then our customers can do what they do faster, their needs become more sophisticated and on it goes. There’s a flywheel effect.”
Cultura’s priority is to make sure we are advocates for our customers regarding the ownership, accuracy and sharing of their data, Duey explained.
“In ag, it’s a very complex space and there’s a lot of data, so it has to be finite,” Duey explained. “For example, if it’s a scale ticket, maybe all that is needed is the weights and grades of the scale ticket and not the contract that’s underlining it.”
Duey was joined at the conference by Pat Mahapatra, Cultura Group Leader; Kaleb Kromann, Global Director of Innovation and Senior Engagement Manager for Solentra; Shelley Laracuente, Industry Engagement Manager for Cultura; and Leandro Mileski, M&A Business Development Associate. We each worked to generate new acquisition and commercial opportunities and to nurture and grow existing accounts.
“I enjoyed my time, and this was a valuable experience for our company,” Kaleb said. “I had the opportunity to meet many people I was not scheduled to meet with and the chance to share who we are and what we do.”
